8 lakes, also known locally as Shuranga, is one of the most exotic and wild destination, which is the less touristy and best place for doing horseback riding tours around the area, with breathtaking landscape as mountains and 8 different lakes. This trip is one of our most attractive tours we offer for our customers who enjoy adventure, wild nature and want to experience local nomadic families.

DAY1. LEAVING ULAANBAATAR FOR ANCIENT CAPITAL CITY KHARKHORIN
After would pick up you from your hotel/hostel, we will start drive to Kharkhorin which was a capital city of Mongolia in 13th century for about 30 years, located in northwestern part of Uvurkhangai province of Mongolia. On the way to get to the Kharkhorin we will have a lunch on the open space of Mongolian countryside. We will drive forward to Kharkhorin after the lunch. One of the Mongolian most attractive monasteries Erdenezuu locates in Kharkhorin City. The Erdenezuu monastery is the most ancient survived Buddist monastery in Kharkhorin, Mongolia. The Erdenezuu monastery was built in 1585 by Abtai Sain Khan and the monastery was allowed to exist as a museum, the only functioning monastery was Gandan monastery in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. However after the fall of communism in Mongolia in 1990, the monastery was turned over the lamas and Erdenezuu again became a place of worship. Once we get there, we will accommodate in a town ger hostel. After having dinner in a hostel, we will have a free time hiking or wandering around the town. (Lunch and Dinner)
DAY2. DRIVE TO HORSE RIDING DESTINATION – NAIMAN NUUR (8LAKES)
After having breakfast at the town hostel, we will start driving to Shuranga for preparing our horse trip with Mongolian family where we will get our horses, packing yaks and local horse guides for our horseback riding trip for next riding days. Once we arrived at the family, we will be introduced and get used to our horses and helping to cook and having brilliant Mongolian barbeque for dinner. We will get experienced of Mongolian culture, way of life of nomadic families. Stay overnight in a ger. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY3. WE ARE STARTING OUR HORSEBACK RIDING TRIP
This morning we will start our horseback riding tour. After having breakfast, we will pack our staff on some packing yaks and ride to Shireet Lake, which is the biggest one in other 7 lakes. During the day we will see great landscapes, a beautiful lake and one of the wildest and unspoiled travel destinations of Mongolia. The Shireet Lake is perfect for photo-shooting and camping overnight. We highly recommend this area for our customers who want to experience adventurous horseback riding. We will stay overnight in our tents. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY4. RIDING AROUND THE OTHER LAKES
After having breakfast at the lake we will ride to another Mongolian nomadic family and will ride to other lakes there. While we riding today, we will cross some little rivers and mountains on the horseback. This is very attractive and much fun to explore the nature beauty and wildlife of 8 lakes in the vast valley and mountainous area. We will have packed lunch in a open space and will stay overnight with a Mongolian family in their ger. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY5. RIDE TO SHAVART MOUNTAIN
After having breakfast at the Mongolian family, we will have another riding day to Shavart Mountain. On the way we get there we will cross some rivers on the horseback as well. We will have packed meal for lunch and continue riding after the lunch until we reach next family we are going to stay with for tonight. Having dinner with Mongolians and will stay overnight in a ger. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY6. RIDE TO ORKHON WATERFALL
This morning after breakfast, we will ride along the Orkhon River in the valley and cross the river for a couple of times on our horseback. In the afternoon, we will arrive to the waterfall called Ulaan Tsutgalan /Orkhon Waterfall/, enjoy spectacular view of the waterfall and surrounding area, where we will have chance to take some beautiful photo shots of Orkhon Waterfall. The Orkhon river drops into 20 kms volcanic crack thus forming the 24 meter high waterfall of Ulaan Tsutgalan, highlight of the area. We are having dinner and stay overnight in a ger. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY7. DRIVE TO MOGOIT HOT SPRING
After having breakfast we will say goodbye to our packing yaks and some of our local guides who will get back to Shuranga. After saying goodbyes we will start driving to Mogoit hot spring. The hot spring contains sodium hydro-carbonate and sulphate and hydrogen sulphide, treatment of joint and nervous disorders and gynaecological conditions. We are going to have a picnic lunch on the way and drive again until we get to the Hot Spring. We are camping in this area. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY8. DRIVE TO TUVKHUN MONASTERY
Today morning,after we pack our stuff, we will start riding to Tuvkhun monastery. The creation work temple established by Undur Gegeen Zanabazar in 1654 dedicated to religious studies and art works became the foundation of today’s Tuvkhun monastery. It is located on top of a rocky mountain hill surrounded by forests elevated in 2300 meters above sea level in the territory of Bat-Ulzii soum of Uvurkhangai province. We will have our lunch in the open space and will have dinner with all our local staff. Stay overnight in a ger. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
DAY9. DRIVE TO ELSEN TASARKHAI SAND DUNES/SEMI GOBI
After having breakfast, we will drive to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes which is a semi desert typed beautiful landscape with big sand dunes. We will have our lunch on the way and will be transferred to a next family ger. We are going to have an optional camel riding before dinner. After having dinner we can hike around the sand dunes. We can possibly see the sunset brilliantly in the area. Stay overnight in a family ger. (Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner)
DAY10. DRIVING BACK TO ULAANBAATAR CITY
After setting up at the family, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar. When we arrive to Ulaanbaatar, we will be transferred to a hostel or hotel for tonight. (Breakfast and Lunch)
